Carlos Vargas Pons was born in 1968 in Gadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico.  He studied painting and drawing with teachers Enrique Ruiz Rojo, José Fors and Davis Birks.  Carlos Vargas Pons began the construction of his pictorial discourse in the nineties, a decade of profound questions about the nature of art.  The fact that Vargas Pons received two first consecutive acquisition prizes at an early age (in 1990 and 1991) at the National Encounter of Young Art, surely affirmed his pictorial option that combined personal expression and reflection on the world of art in which it was inserted or with which it proposed a communication.
